City of Riverdale City Hall

City of Riverdale City Hall

City of Riverdale City Hall The image of the City of Riverdale is to be progressive with a new original architectural character by Sizemore Group. The Civic Center which includes a new City Hall, Community Center and the Amphitheater constitutes about 15 acres. The large recreation space will double as a performance space for 1,000 people. A large divisible meeting space spills out onto an elevated terrace. The Community Center and City Hall are the edges of an amphitheater with an interactive fountain. “We first selected The Sizemore Group after watching them help transform the City of Smyrna into what it is today, and we knew that we needed the same type of catalytic project. We not only wanted our buildings to make a statement, we also needed them to be LEED certified, help the city address utility costs and conserve water, and provide very specific functions. It was clear that we were trying to create something that the metro area hadn’t seen before. “Sizemore made our vision a reality and put the city on the map. They helped us convert a small pocket park into a cultural nexus that has brought new energy to the city. Our new Town Center – which includes a City Hall, community center, amphitheater, and large recreation space – attracts visitors from all over the region and has served as a nucleus for new development.”  – Doug Manning, Director of Operations, Butts County Board of Commissioners Office Services Master Planning Programming Architectural Design Construction Administration Project Management Interior Design Awards AIA Georgia 2013 Merit Design Award Silver in the 2013 Brick in Architecture Awards by the...
City of Smyrna City Hall

City of Smyrna City Hall

The project is part of Phase II of the City Center for the City of Smyrna. This attractive facility includes a courtroom which doubles as a council chamber, administration and city financial offices. The interior decor is inviting with warm woods, cathedral courtroom ceilings and indirect lighting sources. “Smyrna has enjoyed great success that comes from dedication to a well-rounded plan and the willingness to adapt that plan to changing conditions. That success in redevelopment and community building stands as a model for other cities. The enviable position that Smyrna enjoys today began with our downtown redevelopment, which began with Sizemore 26 years ago. That productive and forward-thinking partnership continues as Sizemore Group has remained in the relationship, whether working on projects with us or not. Dedication is the key to unlocking potential. We have had a continued “unlocking” through the years with Sizemore Group.” – Mayor Max Bacon Services: Architecture Programming Master Planning Construction...

Emory University Goizueta Business School Expansion and Addition

Emory University Goizueta Business School Expansion and Addition

Emory University Goizueta Business School Expansion and Addition Emory University needed an addition for the existing business school. Sizemore Group was able to quickly ascertain the needs of the Program and provide architectural direction. The Program was verified with a review and comparison of ‘peer’ institutions. This project has been awarded LEED Gold Certification. Designed under Emory’s core design goal of “enlightened frugality”, sustainable design concepts were only adopted where they offered a sustainable return on investment. This 90,000 gsf expansion includes office functions inherent to the Business School as well as new classrooms and offices for the Executive Education Program. Sizemore Group is the Architect of Record for this project and KMW is the Associate Architect. “The Business School expansion project and the associated site design anchored the monumental sea change for this quadrant of campus, an area that had long been considered the “outback.”  Not only did it provide a new campus green and gathering place defined by building edges open and porous, it was also inviting and accessible to the surrounding communities of people. The rhythm and scale of the facades helped to create an identity of place different from others on campus, but wholly within the Emory idiom.  The gateway under the connective bridge provided a strong sense of transition and iconic identity. “The Sizemore Group helped us establish the strength of design risk that would be so rewarding for the Emory community: large glass windows in circulation areas, the bridge as both connector and lounge, and the play of shade and shadow patterns with loggia, balcony and flat façade combinations.”  – Jen Fabrick, Emory...
