Emory University Goizueta Business School Expansion and Addition

Emory University Goizueta Business School Expansion and Addition Emory University needed an addition for the existing business school. Sizemore Group was able to quickly ascertain the needs of the Program and provide architectural direction. The Program was verified with a review and comparison of ‘peer’ institutions. This project has been awarded LEED Gold Certification. Designed under Emory’s core design goal of “enlightened frugality”, sustainable design concepts were only adopted where they offered a sustainable return on investment. This 90,000 gsf expansion includes office functions inherent to the Business School as well as new classrooms and offices for the Executive Education Program. Sizemore Group is the Architect of Record for this project and KMW is the Associate Architect. “The Business School expansion project and the associated site design anchored the monumental sea change for this quadrant of campus, an area that had long been considered the “outback.”  Not only did it provide a new campus green and gathering place defined by building edges open and porous, it was also inviting and accessible to the surrounding communities of people. The rhythm and scale of the facades helped to create an identity of place different from others on campus, but wholly within the Emory idiom.  The gateway under the connective bridge provided a strong sense of transition and iconic identity. “The Sizemore Group helped us establish the strength of design risk that would be so rewarding for the Emory community: large glass windows in circulation areas, the bridge as both connector and lounge, and the play of shade and shadow patterns with loggia, balcony and flat façade combinations.”  – Jen Fabrick, Emory...

University of Georgia Terry College of Business Renovation

University of Georgia Terry College of Business Renovation Terry College of Business’ new 21,000 sf facility at One Live Oak Center in Buckhead houses several key components for the College: The first floor consists of Offices and Classrooms for the College’s Executive MBA Program, including smaller break-out spaces where students can get together to work on real-world problems assigned by the faculty.  Each Executive Classroom contains state-of-the-art voice, data and A/V technology allowing classes to be recorded and archived for future use. The second floor consists of “Terry Third Thursday,” a fully-functional multipurpose space used on the third Thursday of every month for classes and other educational purposes.  Data, voice and A/V technology for this space (as well as for the rest of the facility), is accomplished via a Control Room adjacent to the Terry Third Thursday space. The third floor consists of Administrative Offices and includes a fully-functional Executive Board Room and Training Conference Room.
