Sizemore Group was asked by Billy Payne to provide a design for the downtown park to host the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.  The goal was to create a vision that would engage the community and become a tool for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. The results? A legacy for the games and a park which attracts thousands of tourists per year. The design and subsequent development spawned over one billion dollars in further development. Sizemore Group led the design team whose responsibility included master planning and programming efforts for the park and festival areas with 100,000 sf of sponsor villages. The project will serve as a long-term plan for the City of Atlanta and included a major addition for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce – the signature building fronting the Park.
